In Love & Liberation: A Community Celebration & Farewell to Heartwood

August 12, 2016- 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Heartwood is a space settling on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded homelands of the Musqueam, Skxwú7mesh, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples. As we gather and organize, we also remember the historical and ongoing colonial genocide against Indigenous peoples that make it possible for us to be here as settlers.

Hello Heartwood Community! As you may have heard, we will be closing our doors on August 15th. As our final weeks wind down, we’d like to gather up the stories, the folks, the community we’ve built over the last three years for one last celebration at 317 E. Broadway. As a thank you, Heartwood would like to celebrate YOU – the Heartwood Community for being an integral part of how the space has grown. Over the years we’ve realized over and over again that Heartwood is the stuff community dreams are made of! Come out and be part of Heartwood’s last chapter.

The evening will be hosted by our beloved Trivia Master hosts, Jess and Silas – because we wouldn’t have it any other way! We’ll also have performances from some Heartwood Best Of’s including Purple Hearts Social Club, Kimmortal, comedians from BIPOC Comedy Night, Gavin Kade, performers from Breaking the Fast, Jen Sungshine from Grand Mamas and more!

SUPPORTING COMMUNITY SPACES:

As one social space closes, we hope to steer our energy towards supporting other community spaces in this city. This community celebration will also be a fundraiser for Gallery Gachet. Entrance is by donation with no one turned away for lack of funds.
