Born in Flames – Screening & Coloring Workshop

February 16, 2017- 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Visiting Artist Jordan Martin will conduct a two-part workshop series. All are welcome and may choose to attend one or both workshops.

We will watch the 1983 independent feminist cult feature Born in Flames and color in Jordan Martin’s coloring pages inspired by the film. Born in Flames is set in a future where after the “Social Democratic War of Liberation”, a peaceful socialist revolution, a group of women decide to organize & rebel against sexism, racism, and homophobia within the post-revolutionary society.

Jordan Martin is an uprooted Brooklyn based multidisciplinary artist and multi-instrumentalist. Her musical project Daphne often presents as interdisciplinary performance (a combination of poetry, theatre, dance, visuals, and music). She has two forthcoming books of poetry Portrait As An Αέρας Δύναμη Ένας (Air Force One), a poetry and coloring book, and S.O.S. : Some Oscillations Suck!, a book and musical EP of poetic rock criticism with translations in morse code. More information about her projects can be found here. http://cargocollective.com/jordanamadimartin
